Cancún, Quintana Roo November 22, 2023.- Cancún FC continues to make history and its next challenge will be Mineros de Zacatecas facing the grand Final of the 2023 Apertura Tournament of the MX Expansion League.
The squad led by Luis Arce achieved a spectacular comeback against Venados de Mérida in the Quarterfinals. From the first leg at the 'Carlos Iturralde Rivero' stadium he had his back against the wall, however, he asserted his status as a local at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo', where he dealt a blow of authority with goals from Raúl Castillo and Arturo Sánchez.
In the midst of the drama and anguish against the horned team, the Iguanas confirmed the good moment they are going through, playing good football, gradually consolidating the identity that their technical director has built together with his team and today places them with many possibilities of play a dream Final.
Despite the altitude and climate of Zacatecas, the people of Cancun have shown the personality to overcome all kinds of obstacles, as they did against Atlante in Mexico City.
“We showed the identity that we have built throughout the tournament, never letting ourselves be defeated.
There are always things to improve, rivals offer you different things and Mineros will be a great rival,” said the teacher, Luis Arce.
On tour, their numbers were three wins, one draw (the only one they had in the entire season), three losses, ten goals for, eight against and ten points.
Of the goals he scored outside of Cancún, four were in La Paz, five in Oaxaca and one in the country's capital, in that order.
miners,
care rival
Mineros de Zacatecas, led by the Spaniard, Ignacio Castro, looks like a very attractive sparring partner for Cancún FC, since it was one of those that was fighting for first position during the regular stage.
At home, it was a complex rival for those who visited them, proof of this is that they added five wins, four by a wide margin (4-0 to Morelia, 5-1 to Tlaxcala, 4-1 to Tepatitlán and 3-0 to Venados), in addition to the 7-2 (overall in Quarterfinals) at the expense of the Alteños themselves and a couple of draws (1-1 and 2-2 with Alebrijes de Oaxaca and Cimarrones de Sonora).
He never lost during the regular schedule. Their last defeat at the 'Carlos Vega Villalba' was on matchday 16 of the last Clausura 2023, on Tuesday, April 11, when they were beaten (0-2) by Cimarrones de Sonora.
In this Liguilla, he scored ten goals in exchange for a couple he received. It has in its ranks Luis Salvador Razo, the campaign's top network breaker, although for now, without being present on the scoreboard.
