CANCUN FC, UNBEATABLE AT HOME; REPEAT TRIUMPH AGAINST ATLANTE

The champion adds its second victory at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium, now (2-0) against the Potros on the third day of the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the MX Expansion League

Cancún, Quintana Roo January 25, 2024.- Cancún FC shows champion muscle. As happened in the Final of the previous semester, the Iguanas asserted their status as home team against the Potros de Hierro del Atlante, now (2-0) on the third day of the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the MX Expansion League.

The squad led by the teacher, Luis Arce, has not lost at home since September 6, on the eighth date of Apertura 2023, when it fell (1-2) against Coyotes de Tlaxcala. From that moment on, they have accumulated eight matches without defeat (three in the regular phase of the previous campaign, three more in the Liguilla and two in the current competition).

The people of Cancun offended their rival from the whistle of Héctor Salvador Solorio with important occasions by Alfonso Tamay, the Colombian, José Rodríguez and the African, Cheik Traore, a figure in the Final, on December 3, this time closely guarded by the low atlantist painting.

For the azulgranas, the one honored by the Cancún FC board, Arturo Sánchez, former member of the Iguanas, tried to do harm, however, he was well guarded by Benjamín Galindo Jr. and Rodrigo Reyes.

At 20', the champion's fans exploded with joy, when Raúl Castillo took a free kick to the left corner, far from the reach of the goalkeeper, Humberto Hernández. Great goal!

Atlante, more busy with defensive tasks than attacking, put up resistance against the hosts who did not cease in their desire to extend the advantage.

No sooner said than done. Now, in the 53rd minute, Cancún FC made a bad stop to the Potros defense, when Alfonso Tamay escaped at full speed through the center of the field. Next to him, José Rodríguez appeared, who took advantage of the Cancun native's great service to resolve with a shot into the center of 'Gansito's' cabin. It was 2-0 for the Iguanas.

The result allows the Caribbean team to gain six points, but also to get closer to the leader, Venados FC, their staunch peninsular rival, with seven points.

On the fourth day, Cancún FC will face Correcaminos from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, on Wednesday, January 31 at the 'Marte R. Gómez' stadium.
