Cancún, Quintana Roo March 13, 2024.- Cancún FC, champion of the Expansion League, will seek to maintain its good pace in the final stretch of the competition, when this Thursday it visits Atlético Morelia at the 'José María Morelos y Pavón' stadium , on the tenth day.

The Iguanas have two consecutive tour wins against Mineros in Zacatecas (0-2) and the recent one, in Hermosillo (2-4) against Cimarrones, respectively. As if that were not enough, they have registered four without knowing defeat, since they were beaten (2-0) by Leones Negros of the University of Guadalajara at the 'Jalisco' stadium, on Friday, February 9.

Those led by the professor, Luis Arce, had not won in a row as a visitor, until now, when they could even add their third success in Purépecha territory.

Four wins, two draws, three losses, 15 goals for, 11 against (+4 their difference) and 14 points is the balance of the Caribbean team, positioned in fifth place.

Outside of Cancún, they have recorded the pair of successes mentioned above, three defeats, seven goals for, eight against (-1 their difference) and six points.

It will be the fourth time that Cancún visits the Michoacan capital, where it won one (2-3 in the Apertura 2020), tied one (0-0 in the Apertura 2022) and lost another (4-1 in the Clausura 2022), respectively.

The last time the two met was on Saturday, August 19 at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium, on the fifth day of Apertura 2023. The result favored the hosts (2-0) with goals from Hedgardo Marín and Alfonso Tamay.

As if that were not enough, the people of Cancun boast in their ranks the Colombian, José Rodríguez, neither more nor less than the greatest net-breaker of the competition, with seven goals so far. With the five he scored in the Apertura 2023 (four in the regular phase and one in the 'Fiesta Grande') he already has 12.

Morelia, one of the places with the greatest tradition in Mexican soccer, is going through a difficult time. It is last place with just five points.

One victory, two draws, five setbacks, eight goals for and a dozen against (-4 their difference) classifies them as the worst in the competition.

At home, they only won (3-1) last Thursday, February 8 against Coyotes de Tlaxcala, on the fifth date. Instead, they lost a couple of times (1-2 with Mineros de Zacatecas and 0-1 against Cimarrones de Sonora).

Hugo Norberto Scoponi, former goalkeeper of Cruz Azul and member of the coaching staff of the Mexican National Team during the management of Gerardo 'Tata' Martino, is the current coach of the Michoacan team.

The naturalized Mexican Argentine also served as an assistant for several teams, one of which was the extinct team, Monarcas Morelia.

In their last duel, they lost (2-1) as a visitor against Dorados de Sinaloa.
