Double from the Colombian, José Rodríguez, leads the Iguanas to their first victory against Mineros (0-2) at the 'Carlos Vega Villalba' stadium and as a visitor to the Clausura 2024 of the MX Expansion League

Zacatecas, Zacatecas February 20, 2024.- Cancún FC dealt a blow of authority in Zacatecas!
A double from the Colombian, José Rodríguez, meant the first victory (0-2) as a visitor for the champion in the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the Expansion League.
Furthermore, it was their first success against Mineros at the 'Carlos Vega Villalba' stadium, where they had not won.

Those led by the professor, Luis Arce, did not know the victory outside of Cancún, since matchday 14, on Thursday, October 26, when they did it by the minimum difference (0-1) against the Potros de Hierro del Atlante, in the Sports City.

Just in the fourth minute, Juan Blanco was encouraged to shoot from outside the large area, forcing Gustavo Gutiérrez to stretch to the right side, deflecting the ball into a corner kick.

Cancún FC responded with a blast from the Colombian, José Rodríguez, when the ball hit the crossbar, in complicity with the goalkeeper, Leonardo Durán, who managed to deflect in a spectacular way.

In the agony of the first half, at 44' to be exact, the champion took advantage of a counterattack orchestrated by Walter Ortega, on the right, who enabled Jorge Díaz Price on the edge of the large area and touched José to the side Rodriguez. The South American eluded the Zacatecas defense and beat Durán with a powerful shot to the left post. Great goal! The Iguanas were already ahead on the scoreboard.

The second half began and Rodríguez himself, now at 51', anticipated the defense, sweeping into the small area to connect Walter Ortega's great service from the right. Cancún FC extended the advantage (0-2).

In the 82nd minute, once again the goalkeeper, Gustavo Gutiérrez, made a sensational one-handed save, when Brian Figueroa tried to surprise him from far away on the right side.

The victory, the first on tour, allows the people of Cancun to add ten points. On the other hand, the Zacatecas were left with seven.

On the eighth date, they will return to the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium to host Club Atlético La Paz, on Saturday, March 2 at 6:05 p.m., local time.
