CANCUN FC LOSES IN ZACATECAS AND GOES FOR A NEW FEAT
With a goal from Luis Razo, Mineros takes the lead in the first leg of the Semifinals of the 2023 Apertura Tournament of the MX Expansion League
Zacatecas, Zacatecas November 23, 2023.- As happened in the Quarterfinals against Venados, Cancún FC will look for a new comeback on Sunday, now against Mineros de Zacatecas, after falling (1-0) in the first leg of the Semifinals of the 2023 Apertura Tournament of the MX Expansion League, at the 'Carlos Vega Villalba' stadium.
More tactical duel than great emotions. In the 11th minute, Raúl Castillo tested the goalkeeper, Óscar González, with a long-distance shot.
Mineros, in its capacity as host, opted for elements, such as the scorer, Luis Razo. The number '9' escaped from the left and with a shot at the near post, forced Edson Reséndez to deflect with his legs.
The second half began when the hosts tried to surprise Edson Reséndez with a shot from midfield by Brian Figueroa. Fortunately, the Caribbean goalkeeper reacted in time to avoid the surprise.
The 65th minute was passing, when Mineros claimed a supposed maximum penalty.
Carlos Sánchez escaped with Alfonso Tamay's mark. The scarlet bench protested the action. Later, Sánchez landed a punch in the Cancun native's face, which, in the end, would cost him the red card.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Mineros found the score in the 75th minute. Juan Blanco enabled Luis Razo with great service on the edge of the large area and without thinking, the gunner took a cross shot to beat Reséndez.
The visitors had the tie with Arturo Sánchez, in an action, in which, almost circumstantially, the ball fell to him, but he could not finish correctly and ended up crashing it into the base of the post.
For this occasion, the Iguanas board organized a 'Watch Party' in the 'Tourist Lounge' area, located right in the building in superblock 21, with the idea of enjoying the game on a giant screen, in the company of fans and media.
With the support of its people, on Sunday, November 26 at 6:00 p.m. (local time) at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium, Cancún FC will seek to access the Grand Final for the first time in its history.
