Tampico, Tamaulipas February 8, 2025.- Cancún FC is stalking the leadership of the 2025 Clausura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX!

The Iguanas earned their first three points as a visitor, thanks to their victory (0-2) against 'La Jaiba Brava' at the 'Tamaulipas' stadium, on the fifth day of the competition.

Goals by Johan Alonzo (33') and Jorge Díaz Price (45') mean that the Caribbeans have reached 11 points, placing them in second place. As if that were not enough, they remain undefeated, with a record of three wins and two draws.

Professor Luis Arce presented a lineup with new additions: goalkeeper Christopher Andrade, Sergio de los Ríos and the debut in the Expansion League of Aldo Solano.

At the start of the game, the hosts created a couple of chances that forced goalkeeper Christopher Andrade to make some great saves, the second a powerful shot from Benjamin Muñoz.

Just when Andrade had saved his team from scoring, Johan Alonzo appeared in the 33rd minute with a low shot to the base of the left post of goalkeeper Gerardo Ruiz.

Before the end of the first half, Jorge Díaz Price scored the second with a low shot, to the base of the left post, leaving 'Kampa' Ruiz with no chance.

Already in the second half, at 55', the Colombian José Rodríguez was close to scoring the third goal with a shot that went slightly wide of the goal guarded by 'Kampa' Ruiz.

Debutant Aldo Solano played 61 minutes, until he was replaced by Paul Uscanga.

At 78', Marco Antonio 'Chima' Ruiz's team almost scored through Omar Soto, with a shot to the crossbar.

Almost at the end, at 90' to be exact, Jonathan Hernández gave up his place to Emiliano Soria, the most recent reinforcement of the Iguanas.

On matchday six, Cancún FC will return home to the Andrés Quintana Roo stadium to host Venados de Yucatán in the Peninsular Classic on Saturday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
