Cancún, Quintana Roo, October 15, 2024.- The 2024 Apertura Tournament of the Expansion League enters its final stretch and Cancún FC visits Correcaminos of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas in search of three valuable points, crucial in their aspirations to access the Liguilla.

The game corresponds to the first day, rescheduled due to the Iguanas' international commitment in Austin, Texas.

The team led by professor Luis Arce split the score (1-1) against the Potros de Hierro del Atlante at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium in a thrilling game, which they could have even won in the final minutes.

The match in Ciudad Victoria will be vital, as it will be the penultimate visit of the Caribbean team in the regular phase. Later, this same week, they will travel to Guadalajara to face Tapatío, the Chivas affiliate, on Sunday 20th at the 'Akron'.

This will be the fifth time that Cancún FC visits the 'Marte R. Gómez', a venue where it has accumulated one win, one draw and two losses.

In nine games, the Iguanas have three wins, two draws, four losses, 11 goals for, 12 against (-1 difference) and a total of 11 points.

'El Corre' has already won

Correcaminos put an end to an eight-match winless streak, since they emerged victorious in the second round (5-1 against La Paz), on Thursday, August 8. From then on, the northerners did not do so, until Thursday, October 10 (matchday 12) when they imposed conditions (3-0) against Atlético Morelia, precisely in their territory.

In five home games, the squad led by Francisco Cortez, a Tamaulipas native and former Cancún FC assistant coach during Christian 'Chaco' Giménez's time (Apertura 2020 and Clausura 2021), has two wins, two draws (1-1 with Celaya and 2-2 against Mineros), in addition to a loss (1-3) against Alebrijes de Oaxaca.

'El Corre' is in 13th place in the general table, with a balance of two wins, three draws, six losses, 17 goals for, 27 against (-10 difference) and nine points.

José Alonso Flores is their best scorer, with three goals so far, after the double he won against the Purépechas.
