EX PUMA, ANDRÉS INIESTRA, ARRIVES AT CANCÚN FC AS A REINFORCEMENT FOR THE APERTURA 2024 OF THE EXPANSION LEAGUE
The 28-year-old midfielder from Guadalajara and also a former member of Venados, Bravos de Ciudad Juárez and San Luis, joins the Iguanas for the next semester
Cancún, Quintana Roo, July 22, 2024.- Cancún FC takes shape on the road to the 2024 Apertura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX.
The Iguanas now have five new signings with the arrival of midfielder Andrés Iniestra Vázquez Mellado, from Guadalajara, former member of the Pumas of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and clubs such as Venados FC, Bravos de Ciudad Juárez and Atlético San Luis, respectively.
The 28-year-old footballer from Guadalajara, Jalisco, came up through the youth ranks of the auriazules. He played with the felines since the Apertura 2013, when he joined the team in the Under 17 category, with which he also played in the Clausura 2014 (between the two tournaments, he scored three goals and played 2,201 minutes).
With Pumas Naucalpan (Second Division, Apertura 2014 to Clausura 2016), he played 35 games (2,999 minutes) and scored two goals. A season later (Apertura 2016 and Clausura 2017), but with the U20, he played 30 games (2,684 minutes) and scored three goals.
He emigrated from the university quarry for the Apertura 2017, when from that moment he defended the colors of Venados FC, until the Clausura 2018. In fact, with the horned ones he debuted in the then Ascenso MX against Mineros de Zacatecas, on Friday, July 21, 2017.
Upon his return to the feline den for the 2018 Apertura, he was called up by the first team for the 2018-2019 Season. During that period, on Friday, July 20, 2018, he made his debut in the First Division against the Tiburones Rojos del Veracruz, in Puerto Jarocho.
Between 2018 and 2021 he actively participated in Liga MX (runner-up in the 2020 Apertura). Then, he left to join Bravos de Ciudad Juárez. In that same year (2021), when he ended his brief adventure with the border team, he was transferred to Atlético San Luis, with whom he remained until the 2023-2024 season.
