SERGIO DANIEL RUBIO SALAZAR, FOR A PLACE IN CANCUN FC'S GOALKEEPER

Originally from Coyotitán, Sinaloa, he was scouted by Mineros de Zacatecas to play in the Under 13, and from there he began his adventure in professional football; he recently made his foray into the Premier League.

Cancún, Quintana Roo, July 24, 2024.- Despite being from the birthplace of great musicians, he preferred to fight to earn a place in football. Sergio Daniel Rubio Salazar, a 21-year-old goalkeeper, born in Coyotitán, Sinaloa, is one of the new faces of Cancún FC for the Apertura 2024 of the Liga de Expansión MX.

In La Cruz de Elota, a town in Sinaloa, capital of the municipality of Elota, he would mark his destiny in search of achieving his goal, like all children who dream of professionalism.

Grupo Pachuca noticed him when he was playing with the La Cruz team, with which he would travel to Guadalajara for a tournament. His skills caught the attention of Mineros to play in the Under 13. At that moment, he began a new stage in his life with the Zacatecans, despite the fact that, obviously, he lived through very complex moments that forced him to return to his homeland.

Mineros insisted on him and he returned to Zacatecas, and then signed up with Tigres for two and a half years. After his adventure with the Monterrey team, he was called up by Mazatlán, with the Under 18 and 20 category teams.

His main role models in goal are, without a doubt, Nahuel Guzmán and Nicolás Vikonis, both with a lot of experience in football. He is a great admirer of the German goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer.

Mineros de Fresnillo, in the Premier League (Serie 'A'), was his most recent team.
