The 28-year-old midfielder from Tampico, Tamaulipas, from Real Estelí of Nicaragua, is the first new addition to the Iguanas for the next semester of the Expansion League

Cancún, Quintana Roo, January 4, 2025.- Cancún FC already has its first reinforcement for the 2025 Clausura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX.

This is the former runner-up of the U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013, Iván Fernando Ochoa Chávez, a midfielder originally from Tampico, Tamaulipas, 28 years old, from Real Estelí of Nicaragua.

Although the Tricolor lost in the Final against Nigeria, they were awarded the 'Bronze Ball' for the four goals they scored during the competition.

Ochoa played for Atlante, Bravos de Ciudad Juárez, León (Under 19), Audax and Everton (Chile), Pachuca (Under 17 and 20) and Mineros de Zacatecas. Recently, he played in the Final of the Apertura of the First League of Nicaragua against Diriangén FC.

The midfielder scored the equalizing goal (2-2) in the second leg of the semi-final against Herediano in the Central American Cup, in the last play of the match, which meant his team's ticket to the final of the competition.

Before joining the so-called 'Tren del Norte', Ochoa was wanted by Club Deportivo Marathón and Motagua, both from Honduras, but finally Real Estelí signed the Concacaf champion with Pachuca (2016-2017) against Tigres de la UANL and Liga MX (Clausura 2016) in the Final which they beat (overall 2-1) Rayados de Monterrey.

His debut with the Tuzos, at that time led by the Uruguayan, Diego Alonso, was against the Tigres, on Saturday, April 9, in matchday 13. He entered in the 80th minute replacing the Argentine, Rubén Botta.
