The squad led by Enrique Vela adds its second victory at home and achieves a round day, with the successes of the Iguanas in the Expansion League and of Boston in the LTDP
Cancún, Quintana Roo October 28, 2023.- Pioneros rounded off a perfect week for the Cancún FC family, thanks to their victory (2-0) against Montañeses FC, second at home in the 2023-2024 Season of the Premier League (Series 'A', Group 2).
On Thursday, the Iguanas beat Atlante (0-1) in the Ciudad de los Deportes, on date 14 of the Apertura 2023 of the Expansion League, while Boston Cancún FC did the same (3-1), but against Campeche FC Nueva Generación in the Third Professional Division League (LTDP).
It was a dizzying start for those led by Enrique Vela, with a double from Daniel Carpio just four minutes in, enough to gain 17 points, after 13 games played.
The Caribbean team had not played in Cancún since October 4, on the ninth date, when at the 'Cancún '86' stadium they imposed conditions (2-0) against Inter de Querétaro. At 'Andrés Quintana Roo' they had no activity since the fifth day, as a result of the draw (1-1) they achieved against Deportiva Venados, on September 11.
With the early advantage, the hosts controlled the actions, counterattacking again and again, in search of the third, which would end the match.
In fact, they could have scored in the first half, but Ricardo Martínez missed a couple of very clear chances, first, at 40', when he crashed his shot into the goal. Later, in the compensation, his shot burst into the goalkeeper's humanity, Javier González.
For the second half, they maintained the same tone, well organized at the back and dangerous on the offensive, with the Cameroonian, Hubert Pouokam, a threat for the visitors.
On the other hand, Montañeses preferred to withdraw into their lower box, in order not to concede more goals.
On day 14, Pioneros will visit Tampico Madero, next November 6.
