Diego Oliva's double makes the difference for the Cancun team at the '20 de Noviembre' stadium, in their debut in the 2024-2025 Season of the Third Professional Division League (LTDP)
Progreso, Yucatán, September 14, 2024.- A double by Diego Oliva made the difference (0-2) for Boston Cancún FC against the Tiburones de Progreso FC at the '20 de Noviembre' stadium, in their presentation in the 2024-2025 Season of the Third Professional Division League (LTDP).
The match started and Boston Cancún FC opened the scoring with a goal by Juan Marín, however, the referee, Jesús Nicolás Pisté, disallowed it due to an apparent offside.
At 13', Max Torres eluded the Cancun defense and fired a shot that went just slightly wide of the goal guarded by Gastón Santos.
It was the 33rd minute when Marcos Rosales hit the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the penalty area. Boston was saved!
Now, at 40', Julio Cayetano almost surprised the Caribbean team with a corner kick from the right, as in the previous case, crashing the ball into the crossbar.
Already in the second half, the visitors surprised the Yucatecans with a great service from Juan Marín on the left, just as Diego Oliva arrived, who in the area took a left-footed shot on the half-turn to beat the goalkeeper, Andrés Córdoba. Boston Cancún FC was already ahead at minute 47!
Progreso FC looked for the equalizer and almost achieved it in the 64th minute, with a move on the right by Juan Villanueva that Max Torres hit the crossbar with a header.
Boston did not give up and increased the lead in the 76th minute, again through Diego Oliva, this time with a soft touch as Córdoba left the area.
On the second day, the team led by professor Edgar Iván Liévano Flores will host Felinos de la 48 on Saturday, September 21 on the synthetic field of the State High Performance Sports Center (CEDAR) in Cancún.
