CANCUN FC FALLS IN GUADALAJARA AGAINST TAPATIO

A pair of early goals from Luis Camberos put the red-and-whites on track for victory (2-0) at the 'Akron' stadium, on matchday 13 of the 2024 Apertura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX

Guadalajara, Jalisco, October 20, 2024.- Cancún FC suffered a defeat (2-0) against Tapatío in their visit to the 'Akron' stadium, on matchday 13 of the 2024 Apertura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX.

Although it is true that they improved in the second half, after the two early goals by Luis Camberos, the Iguanas could not reflect it on the scoreboard, even in the compensation, when at 97', Johan Alonzo was fouled by the red and white defense, but Zahid Muñoz missed the penalty against the goalkeeper, Eduardo García.

Just three minutes into the game, Camberos opened the scoring with a powerful shot to the near post, leaving goalkeeper Gustavo Gutiérrez with no chance.

Camberos appeared again on the right wing, with a shot to the near post, now into the right corner, to leave Gutiérrez with no chance. The red-and-whites were already winning (2-0) after seven minutes.

Still in the 17th minute, Matías Cendejas tested Gutiérrez with a shot from outside the penalty area. Fortunately for the Iguanas, the goalkeeper deflected the ball to a corner kick.

Cancún FC reacted with a breakaway from Mauro Guadarrama on the left, however, when he tried to shoot at Eduardo García, the goalkeeper narrowed to the near post and prevented what seemed to be the first goal for the visitors.

In the dying moments of the first half, Jorge Díaz Price executed a powerful free kick that Eduardo García managed to deflect with difficulty using both hands.

Already in the second half, the coach, Luis Arce, adjusted his team with the entry of Andrés Iniestra in substitution of the African, Junior Moreira, at 59'.

Later, in the 66th minute, Axl Padilla and Zahid Muñoz did the same, replacing Óscar Villa and Paul Uscanga, respectively.

Likewise, Jonathan Hernández and José Rodríguez gave up their places to Carlos Prieto and Gael Rodríguez, in the 84th minute.

Cancún FC closed the scoring with everything. At 79', Zahid Muñoz connected with a header in the crossbar, after having already overcome García's stretch.

Almost afterwards, Gael Rodríguez fired a shot from the left, which just went wide of the red-and-white goal.

The result leaves the Caribbean team with 14 points. Tapatío, for its part, has 25.

Cancún FC will return to the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium to host Atlético Morelia on the 14th and penultimate matchday of the regular phase, on Friday, October 25 at 6:00 p.m. local time.
