Cancún, Quintana Roo, March 18, 2024.- Cancún FC is on the warpath in the final stretch of the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the Expansion League, in search of getting its ticket to the 'Fiesta Grande' and reaffirming its crown.

The end of the regular phase will be exciting, with the Caribbeans on track for the Liguilla. The four remaining matches will be vital to position themselves at the top of the general table.

Meanwhile, three of those games will be played at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium, two in a row, first, this Tuesday the 19th against the Alteños de Tepatitlán and later, on the 26th, also on 'Martes de la Iguana' against Tapatío, in that order.

So far, the team led by professor Luis Arce occupies fourth place with five wins, two draws, three losses, 16 goals for, 11 against and 17 points, tied with Toros del Atlético Celaya and Leones Negros de la Universidad de Guadalajara, both with a better goal difference (+7), compared to +5 for the Caribbean team.

They have gone five games without losing, since they were beaten (2-0) by the University of Guadalajara, on Friday, February 9 at the 'Jalisco' stadium. At home, they have gone ten games undefeated.

Colombian José Rodríguez remains the competition's top scorer with seven goals.

The Iguanas' rival, Alteños de Tepatitlán, will play their fourth match away from the 'Gregorio 'Tepa' Gómez' stadium. They lost the three matches they drew (2-0 to La Paz, 4-0 to Cimarrones and 2-0 to Correcaminos). As if that were not enough, the team that until recently was led by Enrique López Zarza is also not scoring.

In fact, it is the worst offensive team, with just six goals, and the worst defensive team, with 19 goals allowed. A couple of wins, a draw and six losses place it in the penultimate place with seven points.

They have not won as a visitor since Friday, October 13, on matchday 13 of the Apertura 2023. On that occasion, they did so (0-1) against Coyotes de Tlaxcala at the 'Tlahuicole' stadium.

'Tepa' and Cancún FC clashed on Wednesday, August 30, in Altos de Jalisco, on the seventh matchday. The victory (3-0) went to the hosts.
