The Iguanas' board of directors, headed by its vice president, Giovanni Solazzi, received the award from the governor, Mara Lezama, the municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Paty Peralta, and the director of the Sports Institute, Alejandro Luna López.

Cancún, Quintana Roo, November 15, 2024.- Cancún FC continues to add successes, this time distinguished with 'Honorable Mention', within the framework of the 2024 Municipal Award for Sports Merit during the gala held by the Benito Juárez City Council through the Sports Institute at the Cancún Convention Center.

The Iguanas were proclaimed champions for the first time in their history, in the 2023 Apertura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX, thanks to their victory (3-0) against the Potros de Hierro del Atlante at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium.

Already this year, on Saturday, May 18 to be exact, the squad led by Luis Arce, won the title of Champion of Champions, also against the Potros, but in the City of Sports, in a vibrant penalty shootout, resulting from a goalless draw in regular time and extra time.

Giovanni Solazzi, vice president of Cancún FC, accompanied by the director of sports operations, Alejandro Vela, received the award from the hands of the state governor, Mara Lezama, the municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Paty Peralta and the director of the Sports Institute, Alejandro Luna López.

The Iguanas project not only seeks sporting success, but also to transform the football experience into a cultural and entertainment revolution in the city.

The Municipal Award for Sports Merit encourages and recognizes those who, through their effort, talent and dedication, promote the growth of sports in Benito Juárez.
