Mexico City, May 18, 2024.- Cancún FC is the Champion of Champions! After a goalless draw in regulation time and overtime, the Iguanas imposed conditions (1-3) in a penalty shootout against the Potros de Hierro del Atlante at the Ciudad de los Deportes and completed a great participation in the 2023-2024 Season of the Liga de Expansión MX.
The Caribbeans, champions of the 2023 Apertura, easily passed the blue and red customs, a stage where the Potros also stayed on the shore in the Final of the 2022-2023 competition, that time against Tapatío, although they won (1-0) in the return leg, but not on aggregate (3-2), which meant the title for the red and white team.
The team led by professor Luis Arce put the cherry on the cake of a historic campaign, in which they added 50 points, with an offensive style of play, the same at home and away, reflected in the title win (the first team in the competition to achieve it as a top leader), and in the scoring championship of the Colombian forward, José Rodríguez.
Likewise, they recorded a streak of 13 games without losing at home, since they fell (1-2) against Tlaxcala, on September 6, on the eighth date of the Apertura 2023, and which expired on Thursday, April 25, when the azulgrana beat (0-1) the Caribbeans in the first leg of the Quarterfinals of the Clausura 2024.
As if that were not enough, for the first time he accumulated three consecutive victories on tour (0-2 in Zacatecas, 2-4 in Hermosillo and 0-1 in Morelia), respectively.

The Iguanas launched a new offensive at minute 35, with a counterattack on the left by African Cheik Traore, who fired a shot that threatened Hernández's goal, however, a timely tackle by Elbis Sousa prevented the goal.
Already in the second half, at minute 56 to be exact, Cancun native Jorge Díaz Price was close to opening the scoring, when he almost pushed the ball into the small area, but Maximiliano García got in the way and ended up saving his team.
Atlante responded in the 61st minute with a cross from the left by Christian 'Hobbit' Bermúdez, into the heart of the area, where Armando Escobar appeared, with a header to the near post, which went slightly wide of Gustavo Gutiérrez's goal.
Before giving way to Luis Loroña in the 74th minute, Jorge Díaz Price came close to making the difference, with a shot into the left corner of the field by 'Gansito'.

Junior Moreira and Cheik Traore were replaced by Germán Eguade and Axl Padilla in the 100th minute.
