The Iguanas' coaching staff and players spend time with Iván Ledesma at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium, to wish him success in his thyroid cancer operation
Cancún, Quintana Roo, February 6, 2025.- Cancún FC made the dream of Iván Ledesma, one of its most loyal fans, who is currently battling cancer, come true.
The enthusiastic fan experienced a very special day in his life: meeting the Iguanas footballers, his idols, the same ones he accompanies when they play at home, at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium.
“I have always been a soccer fan, rooting for my team, Cancún FC. I am originally from Mexico City and I have lived here in Cancún for eight years. I played for the youth teams of Pachuca and Guadalajara, so now I get to enjoy soccer on this side,” explained Iván, 32 years old, accompanied by his brother, Carlos.
Despite the difficult moment he is going through, due to the thyroid cancer he is suffering from (stage three), Iván was happy about his meeting with the professor, Luis Arce, the goalkeeper, Gustavo Gutiérrez, the defender, Axl Padilla and the midfielder, Jorge Díaz Price.
Dressed in his team's colours, a white jersey, he keeps his smile intact, now more than ever, with the desire to fight to get ahead.
“For me, this visit means a lot, as it is nice to witness the human side of the players, as you normally see them from the outside. I notice that there is a good atmosphere among them. They are all cool.
"It fills me with joy, I'm really excited. It's an experience I'll never forget, I'm going to tell everyone about it. From here, straight to 'Face' (he smiles)," said the fan, who is working in the hotel sector.
The visit ends with a postcard of remembrance and an emotional message: “Champions do not give up, nor do they know the impossible. We are a winning team,” which will motivate Iván to overcome the disease with flying colors, as he did previously, when he overcame testicular cancer three years ago.
