Cancún, Quintana Roo, August 9, 2024.- Cancún FC will seek to continue its winning momentum at the start of the 2024 Apertura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX, now as a visitor against Alebrijes at the Instituto Tecnológico de Oaxaca (ITO).

The team led by professor Luis Arce won (2-0) in their presentation against Alteños de Tepatitlán at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium.

It will be the fifth time that the Iguanas visit Oaxacan territory, where they already won (2-5) in the Apertura 2023. Right after that victory, they would start a good streak against the Itsmeños, since in the recent Clausura 2024, they repeated the dose, but in Cancun, now (3-0).

“It took me two years to make my debut, an unforgettable moment. It is the reward for my effort, a reward for my work. My teammates always supported me, so it is an achievement for my loved ones and of course, for me.

"It was important not to despair, mainly because sometimes you don't have the patience to do things too quickly. You have to work hard to enjoy it," said Christopher Andrade, a 23-year-old goalkeeper from Guadalajara, Jalisco, who was trained in the Rojinegros del Atlas youth team.

Prior to his debut with the first team, 'Chris' was part of Pioneros, with whom he played the 2023-2024 Season of the Premier League (Serie 'A'). During that period, he accumulated six matches without conceding a goal (matchdays 12, 13, 20, 21, 23 and 24), until on matchday 28, Saturday, March 16, Cafetaleros de Chiapas thrashed (2-4) the Caribbean team at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium. In total, he appeared in 13 matches (1,170 minutes).

In the Clausura 2023, he was a starter in the second, fourth and seventh rounds against Huracanes Izcalli, Mazorqueros FC and Alebrijes de Oaxaca, in that order, with a pair of goals conceded.

“In this race, you have to keep a steady pace, always be ready when they call on me. This debut is dedicated to my family and my girlfriend who are always supporting me.

The message I give to the fans is to support us on the 'Sábados de la Iguana', since they are a fundamental part of why Cancún FC is in the First Division," said the goalkeeper.

Debut at home

For Alebrijes, this Saturday's match against the Iguanas will be their debut at the Technological Institute of Oaxaca, after falling (3-0) in Zacatecas at the expense of the super leader, Mineros.

At home, during the Clausura 2024, Alebrijes won two, tied four and lost (0-3) to Leones Negros of the University of Guadalajara on the sixth date, on Wednesday, February 14.

Already in the Play-In, also as host, they tied (1-1) against Cimarrones de Sonora, on Wednesday, April 17. In the end, those led by Carlos Gutiérrez, would fall (3-2) in La Paz, for the ticket that defined the eighth guest to the Liguilla.
