Cancún, Quintana Roo, October 28, 2024.- With its victory (3-1) against Atlético Morelia, Cancún FC took a big step towards the final phase of the 2024 Apertura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX.

Now, their next obstacle will be Dorados de Sinaloa, a rival they were supposed to face in the ninth round, on September 21, at the 'Banorte' stadium, however, due to off-field issues, it was rescheduled for this Tuesday 29th at a neutral venue, the 'Caliente' stadium, home of the Xolos de Tijuana of the Liga MX.

The meeting in border territory will be the first of a double day for the team led by professor Luis Arce, since later, on Friday, November 1, they will do it in La Paz.

The Iguanas have 17 points, thanks to five wins, two draws, five losses, 17 goals for, 16 against (+1 their difference), placed in ninth position, following the victory (0-2) as a visitor to Tepatitlán in Oaxaca.

The top eight teams qualify for the Liguilla, which no longer has a 'Play In' round in this category.

In their most recent duel, in Cancun, on Tuesday, April 9, on matchday 15 of the Apertura 2023, the Iguanas tied (2-2) in dramatic fashion, with a goal by then-team member Samuel González, at 89'.

Dorados, in the last places

The team led by Uruguayan Sebastián 'Loco' Abreu has three wins, three draws, six losses, 17 goals for, 23 against (-10 difference) and 12 points, in 12th place.

The occasions in which he came out on top at the 'Banorte' stadium were on September 7 against Correcaminos of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, in the seventh round. Fernando González, with a double and an own goal by the goalkeeper, Rubén Castellanos, gave shape to the score (3-1). For the Tamaulipecos, José Flores scored.

Then, on Saturday, October 12, on matchday 12, they beat (1-0) Coyotes de Tlaxcala with a goal by Daniel López.

Just on Saturday, October 26, precisely at the home of Xolos, the Sinaloa team thrashed (4-0) Club Atlético La Paz.

A draw (3-3 against Tapatío) and a defeat (0-1 against the University of Guadalajara) are their numbers so far.

Since the 2021 Apertura, the northerners have not qualified for the Liguilla, when they were eliminated in the Semifinals by Tampico Madero.
