Cancún, Quintana Roo, April 8, 2024.- The 15th and final matchday of the regular phase of the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the Liga de Expansión MX will be red hot, as it will define the fate of five teams, including the champion, Cancún FC, and four others looking for a place in the 'Play-In' (formerly Repechage).
The Caribbean team will host Dorados de Sinaloa in the traditional 'Tuesday of the Iguana' at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium, with the aim of adding their seventh victory of the campaign, making one of those accesses to the Quarterfinals theirs and extending their unbeaten streak as host, for now at 12 games without knowing defeat.
So far, of the six teams that will enter directly, only Venados FC and Leones Negros de la Universidad de Guadalajara have secured their presence in the Quarterfinals. On the other hand, Celaya, Atlante, Club Atlético La Paz, Cancún FC and Tapatío are stalking the four remaining tickets for the Liguilla.
The victory (1-3) of Tapatío as a visitor against Dorados, precisely, the rival of the squad directed by the professor, Luis Arce, made things more exciting in view of the end of the regular calendar.
If the tournament ended today, those who would accompany Venados and Leones Negros to the Quarterfinals would be: Celaya (3), Atlante (4), La Paz (5) and Cancún FC (6). On the other hand, Tapatío (7), Alebrijes (8), Cimarrones (9) and Mineros (10), would play 'Play-In'.
The champion could even aspire to third place at most, if he beats the northern team and Toros, Potros and La Paz lose, since he would have 24 points compared to the 22 that these three teams have.
Heading into the decisive matchday, the Iguanas have six wins, three draws, four losses, 19 goals for, 14 against and 21 points, positioning them among the top six in the table, just in time to enter the Quarterfinals.
The teams stalking the 'Play-In' (the NBA-style reclassification) include those who finished from seventh to tenth place. In this round, the Caribbeans could figure, in case of a defeat against 'El Gran Pez' and combined with a victory by Tapatío in Celaya.
The match could also secure the title for Colombian José Rodríguez, as the top scorer of the season, with nine goals so far, but already under pressure from a former Cancún FC player, Michell Rodríguez, from Celaya, with eight goals.

Dorados de Sinaloa will end a campaign to forget. 'El Gran Pez' has ten points, seven at home and only three on the road, thanks to its victory (0-1) in Tlaxcala, on Wednesday, January 24, at the 'Tlahuicole' stadium.
Since the third date, the northern team has not won as a visitor, as they have recorded three defeats in Celaya (3-1), La Paz (1-0) and Zacatecas (3-1). Prior to their success against Coyotes, they started the competition with a defeat (2-0) in Tepatitlán.
The team led by Rafael 'Chiquis' García is the second worst defensive team, with 25 goals against, two less than Alteños de Tepatitlán, with 27.
As if that were not enough, it is the fourth worst offense, with 14 goals in favor (average goal per game), six by Daniel Guadalupe López, its best scorer.
The most recent duel between Cancun and Sinaloa was on Saturday, August 12 at the 'Banorte' stadium, on the fourth date, with a victory (1-0) for the hosts.
