Cancún, Quintana Roo February 17, 2024.- A superb goal from Leonardo Sánchez made the difference for Pioneros Cancún FC against Freseros de Irapuato at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium, corresponding to matchday 23 of the 2023-2024 Season of the Premier League Serie 'A' (Group Two).

Both of them played an intense, trademark game, with dangerous arrivals. At minute 24, Irapuato was close to opening the scoring, with a backheel from Adolfo Enrique Hernández a few meters from Cristopher Andrade's cabin. Fortunately for the hosts, defender Dylan Wojdyla appeared on the line to prevent the score.

The 32nd minute was passing when Tonatihu Hernández hit a first-intention ball on the edge of the large area, which crashed into the Guanajuato defense.

Seven minutes later, Antonio López, uncomfortable with Irapuato's marking, tried to head the ball into the six-yard box.

In the second half, Pioneros did not stop searching for the goal. Now, at 55', Daniel Carpio took a powerful shot that went slightly off Gerardo Magaña's goal.

At 72', Jaime Guzmán created a great play on the left, when he enabled the newcomer, Leonardo Sánchez. In the end, the number '100' tested Magaña with a flash that went just wide.

When it seemed that the duel would end goalless, in the 83rd minute, Leonardo Sánchez dared to shoot from the right to the far post, into the corner, leaving Gerardo Magaña with no chance, who despite his great effort, could not prevent the score.

On this occasion, the players of both teams wore different colored socks, on the occasion of International Asperger Syndrome Day.

The victory, their seventh of the campaign, allowed the Cancunenses to add 31 points. On the other hand, Irapuato was left with 38.

On matchday 24, the Caribbean team will draw their second consecutive home game, on Saturday, February 24, against the Petroleros de Salamanca.
