Double from Sergio Meza in the first half and one more from Félix Falcón at the end of the game, make the difference on the scoreboard, at the 'Andrés Quintana Roo' stadium
Cancún, Quintana Roo August 26, 2023.- Two goals in the first half from Sergio Eduardo Meza and another from Félix Falcón at the end of the battle, allowed Inter Playa del Carmen to win the Quintana Roo 'Derby' (1-3) and put an end to the undefeated record of Pioneros Cancún FC in the 2023-2024 Season of the Premier League (Serie 'A').
Pioneros, with a couple of draws at the start of the contest, tried to impose conditions against a well-organized opponent in their lower bracket, without granting space.
The duel marked the return to Cancún of the goalkeeper, Sergio Silva, former member of Cancún FC during the time of Christian 'Chaco' Giménez.
At 18', Sergio Eduardo Meza opened the scoring for Inter, with a colorful 'pop' to Christopher Andrade's first post.
In the agony of the first half, the hosts let the equalizer escape, in a great action by Alan Arreola, who enabled the Cameroonian, Hubert Pouokam, however, the African could not correctly connect his header against Sergio Silva. That play was a factor, since in the next one, in a counterattack, Sergio Meza appeared again to score the second.
The complement began and the Caribbean suffered the expulsion of Leonardo Sánchez for elbowing Daniel Jiménez. The whistler, José Nicolás López, did not hesitate to show the red to the number '100' from Cancun.
The Inter captain gave his place to Marco Antonio Rodríguez.
Already in compensation, at 91', the players from Play scored the third, through Félix Yair Falcón.
At 95', Pioneros scored a penalty thanks to the African, Pouokam, with a shot to the left post by Sergio Silva.
The defeat left those led by the professor, Enrique Vela, with a couple of units. For its part, Inter agreed to ten.
On the fourth day, Pioneros will visit Sporting Canamy, on Saturday, September 2, in Oaxtepec.
